On June 30, 1982, on the exhibition documenta 7, Beuys publicly melted down a replica of Ivan the Terrible's tsarist crown and recast it as a hare and a sun globe.

On June 30, 1982, on the exhibition documenta 7, Beuys publicly melted down a replica of Ivan the Terrible's tsarist crown and recast it as a hare and a sun globe.
The replica was donated to Joseph Beuys by a Düsseldorf discotheque owner to finance his work 7000 Oaks.
