Contra War Nicaragua 1985

The Nicaraguan Revolution of 1978 and 1979 ended with the Somoza dictatorship. The period from 1981 to 1990 was known as the Contra War.

I was sent to Nicaragua for WDR and some magazines to report on solidarity groups from Cologne.
Atrocities committed by both sides led me to question whether I, as a photojournalist, could judge which side was right. The reportage made me question whether this was the way to go in photography.
