Portraits of Professions
In 1986, I was commissioned by the Federal Employment Agency to take documentary photos of all kinds of professions for the vocational training centers of the employment offices. The range was vast, from diplomats to steelworkers, freight forwarding agents, violin makers, industrial electronics technicians, flight attendants, welders, research engineers, stagehands, shoemakers...

So for about a year, I traveled from the shipyards in the north to the violin-making workshop in Mittenwald in the Alps, photographing these professions. It was an exciting assignment and a valuable learning experience.
